Bespoke Commissions

My expertise spans a wide range of silversmithing and goldsmithing techniques, combined with a deep knowledge of gemstones, both as a cutter and as a collector of fine rough material.

Among the techniques I have used and loved throughout my career, and have the tools to teach, are some that I find particularly rewarding. Cuttlefish casting of precious metals is one I use for wedding bands as well as uniquely decorative pieces. It is a magical process that can be highly controlled whilst also allowing the maker to embrace the natural texture of the bone itself. It is also a perfect technique for melting down and repurposing clients' old gold, giving inherited or unworn pieces a completely new life whilst retaining their personal significance. As a UK-trained jeweller, I have a strong grounding in fabrication techniques. Mokume gane, fusing different coloured golds and silver in a high-temperature kiln, is another passion, and acquiring that kiln has also opened up experimentation with metal clay techniques.

My gemstone work goes beyond selecting stones for setting. I assess rough and cut coloured material for its potential, and cutting my own stones allows me to design pieces where the metalwork and the stone are conceived together from the start.

Beyond technique, what makes my commission work and teaching genuinely distinctive is the ability to listen. Jewellery is rarely just an object — it carries meaning, memory and emotion, especially when deliberately commissioned or made by the client themselves. I have developed an approach that goes beyond taking a brief: I prioritize understanding what a client wants to achieve and connecting with the emotional intent behind a piece, so that the finished work becomes fully theirs, a testimony to their journey.

Our Signature Wedding Bands

One of our most challenging wedding band commissions incorporated Meteorite pieces going around the middle of each band, tension set in 18k white gold. The contrast of the rocky meteorite and highly polished white gold was stunning. As wearing meteorite can be impractical, we designed a central reticulated texture band and polished outer setting that can both be reproduced in different coloured golds.
